The stated mission of Beta Theta Pi is "to Develop Men of Principle for a Principled Life." But what does it mean to live a principled life? For us, it means adhering to the five core values of our fraternity: mutual assistance, intellectual growth, trust, integrity, and responsible conduct. And we strive to embody these principles through the actions we take.
At the 160th General Convention in Oxford in 1999, the Men of Principle Initative was formally introduced, which brought these core values to the forefront of Beta's efforts. Since then, the Men of Principle Iniative has directly impacted the thousands of brothers who attend Beta's renowned leadership programs throughout the country. In addition to assisting brothers of the chapter, the initiative has also allowed chapters to offer a scholarship to a member of the undergraduate community at their university who they believe embodies these principles and has the mark of the Beta Spirit.
At the George Washington University, we are proud to offer a member of the GW community this scholarship on an annual basis. Below you will find a link to the application. This application does not require you to be affiliated with Beta Theta Pi and does not oblige membership upon acceptance. The application deadline is September 13th.
